High School Placement Test (HSPT)

The High School Placement Test (HSPT) is a national high school exam written by Scholastic Testing Services and required for incoming freshmen. The exam covers five areas: verbal, language, reading, math skills and quantitative math (math aptitude). This test is mandatory and will help determine your student’s placement in our academic program. Prospective students may only take the test once.

A supplemental writing portion will also be administered by St. Petersburg Catholic High School. Scores may be shared with other schools using this same exam.

No additional fee is required for the HSPT.

Prospective students should arrive at St. Petersburg Catholic High School for the entrance exam by 7:45 a.m. on the date of testing. Students will finish approximately three hours after the start of the exam.

Students may not use calculators on the HSPT. All necessary materials will be provided.

Preparation guides for the HSPT, a nationally standardized test, can be purchased at local bookstores or online.
