St. Petersburg Catholic has sustained a strong AP program for many years with students having a great deal of success in a variety of AP courses and on the AP exams. Last year, the SPCHS AP exam pass rate jumped to 84%, which is well above the Florida pass rate of 63% and the Global pass rate of 59%. This success lead SPCHS to believe that the AP Diploma is attainable and within reach for its students.

AP Capstone™ is a diploma program from the College Board. It’s based on two, yearlong AP courses: AP Seminar and AP Research. Rather than teaching subject-specific content, these courses develop students’ skills in research, analysis, evidence-based arguments, collaboration, writing, and presenting.

Students who complete the two-year program can earn one of two different AP Capstone awards, which are valued by colleges across the United States and around the world. Students can earn the AP Capstone Diploma™ or the AP Seminar and Research Certificate™.
