Parent Volunteering and Engagement

 

In strong, healthy communities everyone serves and plays a part in the mission. This sentiment is at the very core of our school motto, “fortes in unitate.” As a necessary means to allowing our school community to flourish, we require each family (parents/couples) to dedicate 10 hours of time per year to being involved and engaged in a variety of ways. In order to sign up for events throughout the year, please complete the following steps and see the full list of engagement opportunities below.

*All parent volunteer opportunities are listed below. These are the only approved SPCHS volunteering opportunities. All events described below are listed (or will be listed) in the calendar attached above for your scheduling convenience. 


 

 

  • TRUCK pick-up & delivery of canned food donations to DayStar (8) - 2 hours 
    • Parents with trucks are needed for picking up, loading, and delivering canned food donations to DayStar food pantry in St. Petersburg
  • Chaperone for School-Wide Day of Service (10) - 6 hours 
    • Parent chaperones needed to assist teacher chaperones during our FIRST school-wide Day of Service (2/1). Needed at several different locations. 
 
 

 

  • Assisting the Director of Finance with Filing - 1-10 hours 
  • Uniform Closet - 1 hr/per load, MAXIMUM of 4 hours
      • Summer: Pick up worn items from the uniform closet at the end of the school year, wash, dry, fold, and return before August 1.
  • Winter: Pick up worn items from the uniform closet at the beginning of Christmas Break, wash, dry, fold, and return before January 5.
 
 

 

  • Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament - 2 hours/shift 
    • Campus Ministry dedicates the first Friday of each month to adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the school chapel. We are seeking parent volunteers to accompany the Blessed Sacrament in the chapel when teachers are on duty or teaching. This is a great way to pray and serve the school community in a profound way. 
 
 

 

  • Successful Service on a Baron Boosters Subcommittee and Completion of Subcommittee Duties - 5 hours 
    • In order to obtain the hours for subcommittee work, the duties entrusted to that subcommittee must be completed. 
    • REQUIRED FOR BARON BOOSTERS MEMBERS 
 
 

 

  • Open House - 1-3 hours (Check Mobileserve for details)
    • Check-in 
    • Tour Guides
  • Discovery Night - 1-3 hours
    • Check-in (4), 2 parent volunteers per shift 
    • Greeters (4), 2 parent volunteers per shift 
    • Tour guides (4), 2 parent volunteers per shift 
  • Registration Night - 3 hours 
    • Check-in (4), 2 parent volunteers per shift 
    • Greeters (4), 2 parent volunteers per shift 
    • Notaries (4), 2 parent volunteers per shift
  • Principals & Pastors - 3 hours 
    • Attendees (4) - MUST BE MEMBERS OF THE PA BOARD 
 
 

 

  • Successful Service as Annual Fund class chair or General Chair - 5 hours
    • Couples serving as co-chairs can receive all of their yearly service hours 
    • Couples must be willing to share their testimony about WHY they give to St. Petersburg Catholic at a General Parent Meeting or at Freshman Parent Orientation
    • Must be willing to record a message that would be shared via social media
  • Participation in the Baron Day of Giving (meets $500 threshold) - 4 hours 
  • Donation of 2 dozen donuts for Baron Day of Giving Incentives - 1 hour/2 dozen, MAX 2 hours
  • Share your “Why SPCHS” Story via Facebook/Instagram on Baron Day of Giving - 1 hour 
    • Parents should post their “Why SPCHS” story on facebook/instagram. Post must include the following:
      • Minimum of 1 picture
      • Must include #WhySPCHS AND  #BaronDayofGiving hashtags 
      • Must include a soft ask with the following link: spchs.org/annualfund 
 
 

 

  • Volunteer Support During the Night of the Event (3/6) - 1-5 hours 
    • Internal Raffles (3)
    • Dining Room (4)
    • Decor/Set up (4)
  • Successful Service on a Subcommittee and Completion of Subcommittee Duties - 5 hours 
    • In order to obtain the hours for subcommittee work, the duties entrusted to that subcommittee must be completed. 
    • REQUIRED FOR GALA COMMITTEE 
  • Silent Auction Basket Donation (FMV of >$100)  - 2 hours 
    • Baskets should come ready for display at the auction. They should also include an item donation form that details the items contained within the basket and the FMV for the items. 
    • REQUIRED FOR GALA COMMITTEE
    • REQUIRED FOR PA COMMITTEE 
  • Live Auction Item Donation (FMV of >$1,000) - 5 hours 
    • Donations should include a 1-page sheet of booking restrictions/contact information and an item donation form that details what is included and FMV. 
  • Gift Card Contest Donation - 1hr/$50, maximum of 4 hours earned 
    • This can include cash gifts/donations to the Gala
  • Event/Table Sponsor Donation - 5 hours 
    • Should be purchased online or by check mailed to: 6333 9th Avenue N., St. Petersburg, FL, ATTN: Dr. Lily Abadal 
  • Personally Solicited in-kind donations valued over $200 will only be eligible for a maximum of 5 hours. 
    • In kind donations secured from a business or corporation do not qualify for receipt of parent service hours unless the parent is employed by the business or corporation and secures the donation on their behalf OR if they are the business owner. 
 
 

 

  • Successful Service on a PA Board Subcommittee and Completion of Subcommittee Duties - 5 hours 
    • In order to obtain the hours for subcommittee work, the duties entrusted to that subcommittee must be completed. 
    • REQUIRED FOR PA BOARD MEMBER
